Claude Pro gives you a polished, generous relationship with one company's models: chat in claude.ai, Claude Code for development work, Projects for organizing context, and priority access as Anthropic ships new capability. It's a subscription to Anthropic's product, on Anthropic's infrastructure.

• Zero setup. Subscribe, open claude.ai, talk. Fred asks you to install software and paste a key once.
• Claude Code, natively. If your work is mostly writing and reviewing code in a terminal-first workflow, Anthropic's own tooling is built for exactly that and updates the moment new capability ships.
• Phone-first polish. Native iOS and Android apps. Fred's phone app is Android only — though any phone, iPhone included, can text Fred over WhatsApp or Telegram.
• First access to new Claude features. New capabilities, larger context windows, and model upgrades land in Anthropic's own apps first.
• Casual use. If you ask an AI a few questions a day and want nothing automated or connected to your files, a subscription chat app is the simpler product.

• It is not an all-knowing hologram. It's software: excellent at knowledge work, and its memory of past conversations can occasionally be imperfect. We say so before you buy.
• It needs the internet. The thinking happens at your chosen AI provider on your own key — Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Google Gemini, AWS Bedrock, DeepSeek, Groq, or a local model via Ollama. Local-first, not fully offline.
• Platforms: Windows 10/11 (x64) or Ubuntu-class Linux (x64) — no macOS build. The phone app is Android only.
• It doesn't run your smart home, and it doesn't generate video. Fred does knowledge work — email, research, documents, family, images — not light switches or film clips.
