Beacon stores positions, places, and history on your own machine. Street imagery comes from OpenStreetMap; those requests carry no names, accounts, or family positions. Beacon is included in the optional Fred Family software upgrade. Your model-provider access and usage are billed separately.
And it can't quietly become secret tracking. Sharing is switched on per phone, protected by that phone's own fingerprint or PIN — in both directions — a notification shows the whole time it's on, and switching it off is announced to the family map. It's battery-kind, too: phones report when they genuinely move, not a constant GPS stream.
You won't find a Family buy button on this page — that's deliberate. Anything that touches your family's whereabouts is bought, unlocked, and lives inside your own Fred (Config → Licence, $99 once). Nothing about your family ever passes through a public checkout.

Fred keeps working after that update window ends. You connect your own model-provider access and pay that provider separately for access and usage. Fred Family is an optional $99 software upgrade inside Fred.
Do I need to know how to code?+
No. Fred comes with configured agents, a visual dashboard, and a full owner’s guide. Install it on a supported computer, connect your model, and use plain language. Teach can also turn a demonstrated task into a reusable lesson.
Does everything stay on my computer?+
Your memory files and credentials are stored on your own computer. When you choose a cloud AI model, the information needed for that request goes to your provider using your API key. You control agent permissions and can choose a local model through Ollama.
Can Fred work while I’m away?+
Yes, while your computer is running and connected. Scheduled workflows run on that machine. The included Android app connects back through an encrypted tunnel for chat, voice, outputs, workflows, and agent controls. WhatsApp and Telegram messaging are also supported.
Can I move Fred to a new computer?+
Yes. One machine is licensed at a time. Release the old activation from Settings, or contact support, then activate the new computer. Reinstalling is covered by your licence.

The full guide is installed on your machine with Fred. It explains the dashboard, Orb, agent management, permissions, health panels, and activity log, along with the rest of the controls.
