The cost of Fred and the AI you connect
Fred’s software licence is $99. Your chosen provider bills separately for model access and usage. BYOK keeps those two parts of the setup distinct: the harness you purchase and the intelligence you connect.
The software licence
The one-time $99 licence covers Fred’s dashboard, agents, tools, permissions, memory, workflows, Android app, and owner’s guide. The optional Fred Family software upgrade is another $99, purchased inside Fred.
Your ongoing model-provider costs
Set up supported model access with your chosen provider. Your account, access terms, subscription charges where applicable, and API usage are your responsibility and are billed separately from Fred.
What affects model usage
The model you select, the amount of context it processes, and the tasks you delegate all affect usage. Scheduled workflows and agent tasks can make model calls each time they run. Check your provider’s rates and use the dashboard to follow actual activity.
Following your usage
Fred’s dashboard tracks model usage and cost per session, agent, and day. Use that information alongside your provider’s account and billing tools to understand the ongoing costs of your setup.
Local models
Fred also supports local models through Ollama. You provide the model and the hardware to run it. Capabilities, hardware requirements, and running costs depend on the configuration you choose.
